Medieval Porvoo

If you are ever in southern part of Finland visit medieval town Porvoo which is 50 km far from Helsinki. This town is historically important due to international trading since medieval ages. The Old town of 1380 looks like in old times not taking into account modern cars in the streets. It doesn’t matter if you come to feed your hunger for history, architecture or shopping you wo’t be disappointed with Porvoo in any time of the year. Atmosphere there is so magical that you wish you lived in this beauty.

Streets of Porvoo are decorated with different art work of locals.

You can even meet mice in the cellars.

Peeping windows, invention of Porvoo, you can see what is happening at neighbors. You can also     see these windows in Stockholm.

Medieval Porvoo looks the same like 700 years ago despite many fires which destroyed town many times.Citizens of Porvoo have built town again and again according to old traditions.
Red houses along the river are shore houses where used to be kept spices, fruits, coffee and tobacco. The houses were painted in red ochre to protect buildings from severe Finnish climate.

For our walk in Porvoo I went with Maria tights from autumn/winter collection 2015-2016, dress Barcelona also from Wolford. I love these items for their versatility.

Runeberg’s cake – delicious famous cake which was invented in Porvoo and named after famous Finnish poet. It is eaten in Finland on Runeberg’s day but in Porvoo you can always find it and taste every day.

Hi Maria you look amazing in those outfits!!!! Aaaannnnd.. as a tights expert, you might be able to help me on this one:

I am trying to buy a pair of tights for my girlfriend during the upcoming holiday season. She's 5'5'', Asian, living in a place where the average winter temperature goes from 25 to 42 F. Given its a coastal city (with wind front and stuff) I'd say it feels way more chill than it actually is.

She doesn't like anything flashy; so some low-key style will fit right in – deep or pure color with little-to-none pattern. But from a man's perspective, I like her in shinny/sheering accent color too =)

So, any specific recommendation from our beloved tights expert =)? Wolford will be THE BEST brand selection since it has stores in our city. Regarding other high-end european brands, it can be time-consuming for them to ship the gift here =(. Budget is fine as long as nothing too crazy =P.

    Thanks in advance!!!!!

      Hello Olli,

Thank you for your wonderful message. I believe you live in US and you have a Finnish name, havn't you? Anyway, I am interested where can be such a temperature for winter.

There are so many tights to choose and according to the described temperature you can go easily with 40-50 den tights in winter. As for brands – try Wolford, Fogal, Cecilia de Rafael. If it is really windy day it is good to get 50 pure tights by Wolford, they are so smooth and comfortable.

If you want shinning sheering – neon 40 by Wolford will be perfect (although they are transparent)
Shiny: Sevilla by cecilia de rafael, Satin touch 20 by Wolford, you can also check Krystelle by shapings http://www.shapings.com/pantyhose/seamless-pantyhose/krystelle-20-seamless-pantyhose.html#.VlWrWr9QvGE

You can also check from to http://www.uktights.com and http://www.luxury-legs.com
If you live in US you can check shapings.com – they have European brands and located in Canada.

My advice will be to check and experiment and then you will find what you like:)

What a beautiful town, you can almost feel the history. If I ever visit Finland, I'll be sure to visit Porvoo.

Now the tights! The Wolfords are amazing as expected. I love their designs and ideas, so innovative! I have a couple of questions about these tights, if you will allow.

    1) What colour is the stripe on the front? In some pictures it looks pink, others blue and in some pictures white? I'm sure it just a trick of the lighting, but I really cannot tell what colour it is (is this going to be another 'blue dress-gold dress' internet sensation??)
    2) Are these tights avaialble with a different coloured stripe? I'm sure I can find out, but I thought I would ask you … the expert!
    3) Have you tried wearing these tights back to front – more conventionally (so the 'seam' is on the back)? Is this even possible with these Wolford tights (I know that Wolford sometimes have a shaped foot so the tights can only be worn one way around).
    4) I am a little OCD, so I hope you get why I am asking this last question. How easy (or diffuicult) is it keep the seam straight? Do the tights move around easily or do they hold on to your legs tightly?

A lot of questions, but I hope you can help (like a mini-review of these awesome tight). Thank you and great picture as ever!

      Hello!!!

Thank you for all your question:)

      1) The color is black/ash, you can go to Wolford shop and find more colors))

      2) Sure you can, after all my posts I give the links (orange letters and if you click in the pictures) to the shop where you can check the availability, colors, sizes, prices.

      3) I normally wear Wolford tights according to the label (it is in the back of the tights).

      4) Tights shouldn't move that much. You have to put them to stay fit.

    Hello Maria
i can speak Russian to you, but probably your answer to my question would interest other people. I also have the Wolford classics like Bilbao Dress and Barcelona Dress. But whenever I make some steps they keep coming higher and I need to pull them back in place almost every 5 minutes. Especially when I wear sleek tights like satin touch or neon. Is there a trick from an expert to avoid that? It was quite an investment and they look great and I would like to wear them more often.
